Animals and Plants That Do Not Age

Many organisms exhibit negligible senescence: they show no substantial age-related decline in physiological function and no corresponding increase in mortality risk. This “biological immortality” does not arise from a single “anti aging gene”. Instead, multiple cellular processes occur Synchronously to preserve cellular function across the organism’s life span. Humans share many of the same systems that protect and repair cells. What distinguishes long-lived organisms from aging organisms such as humans is how effectively and consistently the cellular systems are maintained.
